The buffet price was amazingly cheap! Compared to New York.... When I saw the price I was in shock. The food selection is not huge, but it is enough to be satisfied. There is hibachi, sushi, Chinese food, and American food. If you don't see your usual sushi, don't worry you can ask the chef to make whatever it is that you want. The dim sum looked ehhhh.... Didn't try it because it didn't look like the usual dim sum we order from Chinese restaurants... Definitely worth a visit!!

As I have listed in my profile, Chinese buffets are my guilty pleasure. I have to try as many as I can and I revisit the best ones frequently. This is one I've been to 4-5 times and will keep going back. I stumbled upon Royal by accident. I was shopping for a lamp at The Home Depot across the street about two weeks before I was moving to the area and was starving. I saw Royal Buffet and went in blindly. The restaurant doesn't look like a Chinese place from the outside. Its clean, stands alone (not in a strip mall) and has a ton of parking. Inside is clean and the buffet is massive and organized by type of food. There's an "American" section, a seafood area, dim sum, sushi, salad/dessert, hibachi grill and fried food section. The dumplings are the BEST I've ever had at a Chinese buffet. They use authentic wrappers that are thin and light, not the thick chunks of dough Americans are used to. The variety is also astounding, chicken, pork, shrimp and vegetable. All are to die for. They're also piping hot due to the elaborate steam system underneath the dim-sum pots. Royal is also one of the few buffets that I'll actually eat the sushi. Its fresh and clean, not sitting on a sheet of ice for 4-6 hours. If you're in the Scranton area and looking for quality and cleanliness, visit Royal and not the place down the road that advertises as "The best Chinese buffet in the area".

What a find... the buffet changes slightly from day to day with homemade items and includes not only oriental items but 'American' faire. The staff is extremely helpful and kind, too. What's not to love about all-you-can-eat Hibachi and sushi?! We were there at 5PM on a Saturday and while it was crowded, you could tell staff was working hard in the back to keep food hot, fresh, and plentiful. Great job. Try it!

A great buffet. As far as buffets go, this one is tops, can't be beat. Fresh food, well cooked, busy--so there is a steady turnover of food on the buffets, a good hibachi, and as my friends all agree--bar none the absolute best sushi you can hope to find at a buffet. Give it a whirl, the staff is really friendly as well!

Hi, I have been to the Royal Buffet a couple of times. I like some of the foods, but I have been to better grills. But, if you like Chinese I highly recommend The Royal Buffet.

Delicious Chinese buffet at a very good price. Their selection is good and very well replenished.

The food is hot and delicious! There is a great variety of food. We have only been there for lunch and love it! It's $6.99 for lunch (not including drink).

I've been here several times for lunch, and this is by far the best Chinese buffet in North Eastern PA. The variety of food is so large that you can't try everything in a couple of visits. I also appreciated the fact that they have Miso soup, fresh sushi, and a variety of hard ice cream flavors!

    Best Chinese Buffet around!!!

Royal Buffet was a good Chinese buffet restaurant during its first week, but since then the quality has diminished drastically. It's hard to find the restaurant at fault for this, as their bottom line is at risk by the average patron who bellies up to the trough after waddling through the front door in expectation of an all-you-can-eat several hour smorgasbord. I'm not sure how buffet-style restaurants like this can hope to turn a profit when the customers generally show up wearing pants with elastic waistbands.

Great buffet, they really got the flavors right. Also since the business here is relatively good they keep bringing out fresh food to refill the tables so one rarely experiences soggy food. I like this one better than that one near staples.

I have to say all in all it was probably one of the best Chinese buffets I've been to. Though it wasn't the largest selection it was plenty and all the food was really good. Pros: Every dish, I tried was very good. Even dishes I normally don't like were delicious I was very impressed by the quality of the food especially for a buffet. Cons: They did not have coconut shrimp only coconut chicken ( still good but not as good). They had no peanut chicken which is my favorite buffet fare so I was a little disappointed by that. All in all, if they had had some peanut chicken I may have voted it the Chinese Buffet I've ever been it was very delicious definitely worth a visit or two. :)

I really enjoy Royal Buffet. The food on the buffets is really tasty and almost always fresh when you are there at "meal time" They have a very wide selection of Chinese dishes and a handful of American items (for kids, I assume), a little salad bar, desserts, and ice cream. Habachi is really good and so is the sushi. The place is almost always packed, so turnover on the buffets is pretty good.

It should be the best place for big eaters! So much various food. Surprisingly wings are really good. Their sushi is not real sushi just so you know. Don't judge sushi from this place, to whom try sushi for the first time. Recommend: Clams Singapore mei fun Hibachi Wings Soup

Considering how cheap this place is and the abundance of food they offer and their two action stations, this place is legit as far as AYCE Asian buffets go. We always try to go right around their opening time so all their food is hot and fresh. They do change up some of the items on the line to keep it a bit different but they do keep all the staples out as well. Personally I am a big fan of the sesame balls, dim sum, hot and spicy beef and the sushi chef who will make you whatever else roll wise you want if none of the buffet suits your fancy. Plus they have a Mongolian Grill as well! Oh and for desert, it's not one of the soft serve machines but real ice cream that you have to scoop yourself! How awesome is that?

Went looking for a good sit down Chinese dinner, and decided to go here. What an awful decision. They have a buffet, which I am never a big fan of. So we ordered off the menu. I had a Seafood Delight...which was horrible!! The seafood was under cooked, the sauce was starchy and bland. Absolutely horrible!!!! The service was even below average. I won't go back again.

Huge disappointment, now dnt get me wrong food was tasty but the place is a filth, shushi looks dirty and old. I got my first plate trying to be a good sport since i came a long drive, asked for water cup was dirty still had someones lip mark on it! Ok she gives me a new one I go to bathroom there was a fresh dump on the floor I get back and when my husband goes for his second plate he sticks fork in and a long thick black hair comes out when I told the manager of it she had the girl charhe me bill right away without me saying if I was done mind u I had only sat for 15minutes if thos is a buffet why are u slapping the bill on my table right away?? Because I pointed out somin disgusting? I go to complain to her about the rideness of pushing somone out especially after I find a hair, and she has the nerve to tell me oh I'll take of two dollars of ur 30$ bill! ... u have got to be kidding me. First and sure shit my last time.

Same as last time I was here. The sushi is ok, but it's probably been 45 minutes now since they put any out, and most of the trays are empty. Overall, there's a lot of variety, but quality is mediocre at best. Some of the dim sum definitely had an off taste. Oh ... and they seem to be having some plumbing problems ... puddles being mopped up in a number of places. The ladies room has been closed for over an hour, with some guys in there doing something, a long extension cord running in there. There seems to be a lot of water in that area, being tracked around by foot traffic.

We went there for lunch on Sunday. It was not crowded when started our lunch. Hibachi was really good, specially chicken on the stick. Sushi was average (they have enough scope to improve) Dumplings were tasty. With all the fried food, you can stuff yourself. We liked BBQ ribs too. Nothing special in dessert section. Ice cream, cookies, cakes and fruits. We enjoyed litchi jello. Value for money: definitely. Last but not least Super rude staff.

We popped in here out of A.) curiosity (there are always a MILLION cars in the parking lot) and B.) because we love Chinese and Japanese food. And, the price cannot be beat: about $11.00 each (before drinks). But, that might be the best I can say about Royal. Now, the quality is a bit "all over the place." The hibachi and sushi are made fresh (but you do have to tip the chefs). (There is some pre-made sushi, but they had no labels ... and, as a vegetarian, that was a risk I was not willing to take). The heated bins of food were a little bland, a little greasy, and a bit uninspired. However, there is a very quick turn-over as a result of the popularity of the establishment (so, no need to worry about congealed or cold food). I could imagine what the interior looked like when it opened: modern and sleek. But now, the booths are torn (like literally holes and slashes) and old. And, I must admit that I am not a fan of the water fountain with fish ... inside the restaurant. Awkward. As a result of the low price, the place was CHAOS! Children running around, huge groups of people slapping food on their plate. So, bring your earplugs and a high-threshold for less-than-proper dining etiquette. Obviously, whatever Royal is doing works for them. While once was enough for us, plenty of others will undoubtedly return.

For 11 bucks for dinner is a great price for the quality of the food. Although the food is not the best, you cannot beat it's price! Definitely worth a try!

dirty places ....the staff is rude! all they want is your dollar and get out...the staff was cleaning the toilette seat with the toilet water!! yikes....another staff used the ladys room and walked right out without washing her hand!! yikes.... all they want it your $$$$$ dont care about americans catching germs while they stir your food with dirty hands

Royal ran and ad for valentines day, which included lobster. well I wish you could see what they served for lobster, just the tiny legs on the side of the lobster which there is little or no meat in. In the ad they had a coupon for 15% off but when I went to pay they said couldn't use it on valentine's day but they put it right in the ad and it didn't say you couldn't use it. These people are really big liars and some thing should be done withy them. When you go for crab legs there is only a bowl with water in in and they say they'll be right out but I never got any, yup scumbags, do not go there

Great restaurant overall. The grill needs a little bit more work though. The bathroom and there is decent. They should have a little bit more variety of foods but it's good. They have a pretty decent dessert. overall it's a good restaurant.

Best Chinese buffet in town hands down. Good selection of food at the buffet with some choices for the kids who might be a little finicky. Also you have the options of the fresh hibachi station or also the sushi station too, with lots o dessert choices. Way better then the other buffet by Staples. Can't go wrong with the price too.

My god I didn't know places this horrific existed! I'm almost at a loss for words. I know someone with my standards is bound to be disappointed by a establishment with this business model, but I had no concept of how awful it could be. The food ranges from mediocre to down right repulsive. Even for American Chinese food - much of the meat oozed with grease. The steam table also wasn't kept at appropriate temperature so anything you eat form it could be causing you to vomit your guts out for the next 24 hours - keeping my fingers crossed. I witnessed twice while I was in the restaurant screaming arguments break out between customers and staff. The staff has no concept of good customer service. The staff is caustic, rude, bombastic and belligerent. On top of these qualities no one in the place speaks bloody fluid English. Is it too much to ask for someone who wants to do business in the hospitality industry to learn bloody English or at least hire a manager who speaks it! I don't know how this place survives. It's really depressing that the local gentry tolerate such a place. I should have known better then to walk into this "place". As I first walked in I knew in the back of my mind it was a mistake. Next time I'll listen to my gut.

Where to start. The staff , like the hostess the fish in the little pond are more friendlier then her . Now to the food . It's poor quality . The raw food on the hibachi all dried up . The sushi is tasteless . Save your money bypass this place . And to top it off the bathrooms are foul !!!!!

  • Jenna H.

For a buffet, the food really is not all that bad. Although the sushi is not top quality, it's delicious and there are plenty of varieties. The food is a little greasy, but staff is constantly changing out old food for fresh, hot food. I don't mind coming here for a quick bite to eat that leaves me satisfied.

Chinese Buffets to me taste pretty much the same to me. Either they taste good enough to eat or they don't. This is no different. But one thing apparently remains constant with them and that is the service. The whole time you feel like they're trying to rush you out of there

This buffet was suggested by a friend, and so for our traditional new years eve Chinese dinner, off we went to Royal. By far, the best Chinese buffet I've been to. Want variety? Yup...including frog legs, whole squid, and seaweed salad, which was good. Three long islands full of hot food, great variety, including good sushi, crab legs and several shrimp offerings. Ribs were very good also! Friendly service also...quick refills. Only gripe was the table sizes...we were really tight at 6, and our table was tightly crammed against another. It was so tight that I was hit by flying crabmeat from the man next to me, opening his crab legs. I'm also having trouble with the idea of everyone eating with fingers and then sharing the service tongs. Yuk. Price was 10.99 adult, 5.99 kids, 3.99 under 5. We will be back next New Years Eve...

For a buffet the food is good and fresh, they have high turnover here because its so busy. The sushi is actually very very fresh! Price cant be beat. Can get custom sushi rolls or sashimi that isnt on the actual buffet and they have a hibachi. I'm not a buffet enthusiast but I really like this place. Custom sushi rolls not extra but cmon! Keep it classy and give the guy a tip!

After trying another Chinese buffet in the area, we have determined that this one is the better of the two in the Dixon City area. They are consistent in their offerings and most of what they serve can satisfy you. This is the one we will come to from now on and we will not waste our money at the other one in the area. The food seems tasty.

From my reviews, you will notice I went to a lot of buffets, most of the time when I was on the road, buffet is my first choice because I can seat and eat right away when I was really hungry. Royal Buffet is not the biggest Chinese buffet I ever went to, but price is excellent compared to selection of food they offered. food also taste good too. The only complaint is you feel slippery if you wear Converse sneaker in this store, for some reason all my sons and I just did not feel friction between the sneaker and floor tiles

Ok, Ok, it absolutely kills me to admit it, but this is the best Chinese Buffet that I have ever been to. I have to admit that I been to way more than my share of such establishments, and this place stands out head and shoulders above the rest. I know that chinese buffets are not actually chinese food...and I don't care. Their fake Chinese food is yummy and fresh, their chinese made japanese sushi (which really doesn't make sense) is actually not too horrible considering it is off of a buffet. It has an enourmous selection of buffet standards as well as things I have only seen there. They change the selection on a daily basis and have plenty of "non-Chinese" options for those who are against Chinese buffet food. This only irks me more because I don't live near here and my brother does. He will never let me live down this review.

I was very skeptical. Buffets in general are not my thing, especially Chinese buffets (I have had some pretty bad experiences). But my boyfriend insisted on trying this place. On a weak day, I gave in. But it actually turned out to be really good! There were tons of options, everything was hot, and the price was reasonable. I would definitely go back again whenever he desires.
